THERE WAS, THERE WERE (HUBO, HUBIERON)


THERE WAS, THERE WERE (Past)

There was: significa hubo (de haber) y es empleado para designar nombres o sustantivos individuales o en singular.
Ej.           There was a match.  (Hubo un partido)
                There was an eraser (Hubo un borrador)
Para elaborar oraciones negativas, al verbo WAS, se le agrega NOT.
Ej.           There was NOT a book. (No hubo un libro.)
                There wasn´t a table. (No hubo una mesa)
Las oraciones interrogativas se antepone primero el verbo WAS.
Ej.           Was there a cat?  (¿Hubo un gato?)
                Was there a monkey? (¿Hubo un mono?)


There were: significa hubieron (de haber) se emplea para nombrar sustantivos en plural.
Ej.           There were trains. (Hubieron trenes)
                There were women. (Hubieron mujeres)
Para realizar oraciones negativas e interrogativas se siguen los mismos pasos con el verbo WERE.
Ej.           Afirmative:         There were nurses. (Hubieron enfermeras)
                Negative             There were not nurses (No hubieron enfermeras)
                Question             Were there nurses? (¿Hubieron enfermeras?)
